After breakfast, drive to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park, where you’ll register and begin your trek. The trail passes through open grasslands with opportunities to spot giraffes, buffalos, and other wildlife. Ascend into the montane forest, where lush vegetation surrounds you, ending the day at Miriakamba Hut.

Today’s trail ascends steeply through the forest and into the heather zone. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of the crater and the summit. Stop at the Saddle Hut, located beneath Little Meru, for rest and acclimatization. For those who wish, a short hike to Little Meru offers incredible sunset views and preparation for the summit.

Begin the summit trek at midnight, ascending a narrow ridge with dramatic drops on either side. Reach Socialist Peak (4,566 m), the highest point, and enjoy breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro, the Great Rift Valley, and the surrounding landscapes. Descend back to Saddle Hut for a short break and then continue to Miriakamba Hut.
